Join this all-star cast August 24 as they celebrate the anniversary
of the day Abbie Hoffman and his faithful hippie following crashed
the New York Stock Exchange in 1967, creating a frenzy by throwing
dollar bills onto the trading room floor from the viewing deck above.
The stunt disrupted the day's trade by sending brokers into a
money-hungry scramble, and was also considered one of Hoffman's
greatest social commentaries on America's insatiable obsession with excess.
New York City's Spiegelworld Circus Tent (located at the South Street
Seaport) will host this counter culture celebration, promising a late
night of music, performance art, mischief and mayhem. The festivities
kick off with full sets from both EOTO and DJ Logic before Steve
Molitz, Jon Gutwillig, Michael Travis, Jason Hann, DJ Logic, and very
special guests close the night out. Space is limited in the all-ages
tent, so be sure to visit Spiegelworld.com for advance tickets to
guarantee your admission to this one-time event.
For its third, expanded season, Spiegelworld will feature two
performance tents: The Salon Perdu, the company's vintage
Spiegeltent, and The Deluxe, marking the first time U.S. fans have
seen two Belgian traveling venues side by side. Spiegelworld will
also boast a version of the Bonnaroo staple the Silent Disco, known
as the Headphone Disco. Other shows of note include Dresden Dolls
visionary Amanda Palmer (8/11), the Yard Dogs Road Show (9/21-22),
The Benevento-Russo Duo and Travis Sullivan's Bjorkestra (9/23), The
Dodos (9/29), Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra (10/5), Tim Fite & Mike
Relm (10/7), Nellie McKay (10/14) and The Felice Brothers (11/2).
Molitz performs next with Phil Lesh & Friends as part of their Summer
Jamboree Tour. Phil & Friends dates available here.
