OHA's last Christmas holiday exhibit, Toys From Your Childhood: The
Nifty Fifties, was a hit. The exhibit featured about 100 toys, games,
book, and building sets from the 1950s and was on display from late
Nov. 2008 through mid Jan. 2009. Guests visiting the museum could
relive their childhoods with Howdy Doody, Game of the States, Cootie,
Shirley Temple and Betsy McCall, Cherry Ames, American Logs, Erector
Set and many other toys and games. The exhibit also featured vintage
photographs of shopping in downtown Syracuse and the famous rocket
ride at E.W. Edwards Dept. Store annex. The exhibit was so popular
that people are still coming to the museum asking if they can still see it.

Building upon the success of the Nifty Fifties, OHA will continue
this holiday season by presenting Toys From Your Childhood: The
Psychedelic Sixties! They would like to fill their second floor
exhibit gallery with quintessential toys from the 1960s: Creepy
Crawler, G.I. Joe, Twister, Clue, Rock'em Sock'em Robots, Barbie (and
her siblings) and Ken, Hands Down, Battleship, Mystery Date, Super
Ball, Chatty Cathy, Mrs. Beasley, Easy Bake Oven, Mousetrap,
Operation, and many other toys, games, books, etc. Do you have any of
these 1960s toys or games up in your attic? Would you like to share
them with other Baby Boomers from the '60s for this exhibit? Ask your
friends and relatives if they have any of these items. Then let the
OHA know what you have and if you're willing to lend them to OHA for
the Psychedelic Sixties toy exhibit.

OHA already have a Mr. Ed hand puppet complete with voice box and
pull string. Help the OHA create another wonderful and popular
vintage toy exhibit that will bring back fond memories in 2009-2010.
The exhibit is scheduled to run from Nov. 1 to Jan. 17, 2010.

If you have 1960s toys, games, books, etc. contact Tom Hunter at
