CHICAGO (AP) A group of retired Chicago police officers who clashed
with protesters during the 1968 Democratic Convention are holding a
reunion complete with protesters.

It happened Friday night at the Fraternal Order of Police lodge on
the city's West Side.

As a couple dozen retired cops gathered to swap stories, protesters
stood outside to dispute what they say is an effort by organizers to
gloss over police brutality.

The world watched on television in 1968 as police battled crowds of
anti-Vietnam War demonstrators.

The reunion highlights strong feelings about the convention that still exist.

The retired officers still dispute a commission report that famously
labeled the scene a "police riot," while others still strongly
maintain that's exactly what it was.
