The sixties were without doubt the most dynamic and innovative of
decades, and their impact upon society is still being felt throughout
the world even now.

Many of the creators and innovators of the Sixties were, of course,
British, a fact of which we can all be proud, so in recognition of
such everlasting achievements, The Overtures have devised a special
concert, suitably titled The Bootleg Sixties'.

This two hour plus show is packed with great music from all the
classic artists of the decade, and is backdropped by fantastic visual
footage, including archive material from each town and city hosting
the show. Add in some guest appearances, some fab 60s costumes and
you've got a show which is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

The Overtures are recognised as one of the finest exponents of
Sixties music in the world today, and among their many credits and
successes were proud to have been asked personally by Sir Elton John
to be the main act at his civil ceremony, as well as to support him
at the 02 Arena in London on New Year's Eve 2008.

Tickets are £18 from the Central Box Office on 01234 269519.

A SIXTIES-style Valentine dance will take place in Pickering next
week to raise funds for this year's Sixties Festival in the town.

The dance is at Pickering Working Men's Club on Saturday February 13
when there will be live music from Thru The Roof and the vinyl will
be spun by Frank Atkinson.

Sixties-style dress is encouraged but is not compulsory.

A recent quiz at the No 4 Bar raised £118 and the next quiz at the
same venue will be on February 25.

Organisers say planning is well under way for the third Pickering
Sixties Festival when the highlight of the weekend will be four live
bands in Market Place.

Two of the bands in the Market Place have been confirmed - The
Persuaders for the main stage followed by The Mindbenders, whose hits
include The Game of Love and A Groovy Kind of Love.

Public houses around Pickering will start the festival with local
bands playing live sixties music on Friday June 11.
