The cast of the Yellow Submarine film has been chosen, and there's
not a Harrison, Lennon, McCartney or Starr among them. When director
Robert Zemeckis's remake of the Beatles classic arrives in cinemas,
it's Cary Elwes, Peter Serafinowicz, Adam Campbell and, er, Kev from
Shameless who will be masquerading as mop-tops.

Though Zemeckis reportedly invited the Beatles' surviving members to
appear in the film, neither Paul nor Ringo now seem to be involved.
Instead, Reuters reports, the four actors are in final negotiations
to play the Fab Four. Zemeckis, best known for Back to the Future and
Forrest Gump, will be replacing the 1968 film's hand-drawn animation
with CGI and motion-capture techniques the same technology he used
on recent films like Beowulf and A Christmas Carol.

The bona fide Beatles weren't much involved in the original movie
either, which hired actors to voice the musicians' psychedelic voyage
to Pepperland. Zemeckis will reportedly follow a similar storyline,
borrowing 16 original Beatles songs to be mimed by yet another gang
of impostors, a tribute act called the Fab Four. However, most of the
heavy lifting will be done by Shameless and Robin Hood star Dean
Lennox Kelly, playing John, The Princess Bride's Elwes, playing
George, TV regular Peter Serafinowicz, playing Paul, and Adam
Campbell, who recently appeared in Epic Movie, playing Ringo.

As the Chief Blue Meanie does not yet appear to be cast, we would
like to propose the esteemed Eddie Izzard. You can thank us later.
