The night was very quiet at the Happy Hippy head shop.

CCTV footage shows North Frederick Street empty and seemingly
peaceful just after 9pm.

Two women are seen in the footage emerging from the top of the screen
and entering the Happy Hippy at around 9.20pm.

A man follows them five seconds later, quickly followed by another
male, a sinister figure carrying the bag containing what is believed
to have been a petrol can.

JACKET

There is no activity on the screen for 30 seconds before an explosion
rocks the North Frederick Street store.

In the 30 seconds after the raiders enter the store on February 16,
they are believed to have beaten up the shop clerk before forcing the
innocent trio into a back room of the store as they doused the store
and its contents in petrol.

Suddenly the two thugs burst from the store, one of the raiders is
engulfed in flames and his jacket catches fires before he disappears
from sight.

But three people -- the two women and the shop worker -- still remain
in the burning building and there are four agonising seconds before
they emerge covered in smoke. The massive explosion is so strong it
blows out the front window which the two innocent women and the
petrified shop worker use to make their escape. All five emerge from
the store, unscathed.

Over a minute passes before a crowd begins to form outside, some
concerned onlookers come worryingly close to the flames to check that
no one has been left in the head shop.

CARNAGE

Cars stream slowly by the store which is being engulfed by flames to
catch a glimpse of the carnage.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened or may
have any information relating to the arson attack to contact
Fitzgibbon Garda Station. The video footage ends before 20 firemen
arrive on the scene and bring the blaze under control.
