Mime Mat Emerick cuts up for the crowd Thursday evening during the
first Downtown Street Performers Series of the year. The series
continues every Thursday evening through August 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
More than 60 acts will entertain downtown crowds on Thursday evenings
this summer.
The Downtown Street Performer Series kicked off Thursday with
jugglers, mimes and musicians. It continues every Thursday night from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through until Aug. 26.
The 29 performance locations stretch along Eighth Street, from River
Avenue to Columbia Avenue. Every Thursday night will be different
from the next. The complete schedule can be downloaded at
www.downtownholland.com. The event is free, but performers accept tips.
Each Thursday, the Holland Area Arts Council will also host an
interactive drum circle with poi dancers and hula hoopers, as well as
hands-on activities for children, in front of Macatawa Bank on the
corner of Eighth Street and Columbia Avenue.
