The Cowsills, a family singing group of mother and six siblings,
might not be at the top of everyone's memory of the mid-1960s, but
they had three Top 10 singles: "The Rain, The Park and Other Things,"
"Indian Lake" and the theme from the hippy musical "Hair." They were
the inspiration for the hit 1970s TV show "The Partridge Family."
After splitting in 1972, sister Susan was a backup singer for Hootie
and The Blowfish and formed the duo The Psycho Sisters with Vicki
Peterson of The Bangles, who married brother John Cowsill.
John is now The Beach Boys' drummer. Mother Barbara died in 1985, but
Susan and her brothers revived the act in 1990. She, Bob and Paul
still tour Barry died in Hurricane Katrina in 2005 at age 51, and
Bill died in 2006 at age 58.
8 p.m. Thursday, Sellersville Theater 1894, Main Street and Temple
Avenue. Tickets: $25 and $39.50. http://www.st94.com, 215-257-5808.
