The Daily Mail has a pretty interesting excerpt from a new Paul
McCartney biography up on its site. The book is called Fab: An
Intimate Life of Paul McCartney, and it basically details McCartney's
love affairs throughout his life, and obviously hits hard on his
marriage to Linda McCartney. Among the rote stuff about how McCartney
was scoring a lot of tail during Beatlemania, is a revelation that
Linda engaged in the same kind of thing Yoko Ono was vilified for:
She allegedly hunted McCartney for the purpose of sleeping with a Beatle:
However much she may have enjoyed her fleeting romances, though, she
was also a single mother on the look-out for something more
permanent. What she really wanted was a rich, groovy guy who could
look after her and her small daughter, Heather, the legacy of a
failed marriage. And her number one target, it turned out, was a Beatle.
She liked the look of the baby-faced one. Indeed, even before she'd
met any of The Beatles, she told Nat Weiss, the American business
partner of The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein, that she was going to
marry Paul McCartney.
I guess this is a "bombshell" or whatever. But ultimately, does
anyone sleep with a Beatle just because they like them as a person?
Can you really make someone into a super villain because they were
attracted to the most famous people on earth? I guess, if Yoko's any
indication. But maybe Linda should be held up as just as guilty. Read
